Abstract: I wrote this the day after a boy committed suicide on the campus of Johns Hopkins University

The campus was quiet,
and people went to classes
and sat on the beach,
on a beautiful day.
But people spoke in whispers,
huddled and stared
and some women cried …
… the day after the boy that died.
His friends were absent
their grief too strong
oh, to handle
without their God
he said I’ll see you soon,
he seems to have lied …
