acoustic guitar rock by singer and songwriter ben bruce

honest songs, honestly sung

This hand-drawn image is inspired by Letter to a Young Poet, written by William Carlos Williams, in which he describes how all our efforts as writers and as men must be to release the enchained dragon within us.

So my friend heard about some show,
and his older brother told us to go.
Well alright, sounds good to me,
We were headed to the Jubilee…

Took the King’s Highway and we rode,
and the friends were good, and the beer was cold.
Well, I smiled at her, and she smiled at me,
We were headed to the Jubilee…

So we found where the trees grow high,
and the radio always plays “Blue Sky.”
We placed our blanket beneath a tree,
We’d made it to the Jubilee…

Here the grass grows high and green,
and the earth seems happy, and serene.
And some they dance, and some break free,
We’re all playing at the Jubilee…

It’s got to rain to be a glorious day,
when all your favorite bands play.
While you and I are in ecstacy,
We’re all screaming, Jubilee…

So you say you don’t want to go,
Keep your head wise, and don’t feel old.
And every once in a while, come and see us,
We’ll be waiting at the Jubilee.
