TABLE OF CONTENTS › Importing Subscribers

You can find this function under the Postmaster > Import/Export sub-tab. There are two steps to this process:

1) Uploading a properly formatted text file
2) Entering the ID of file on the Import/Export sub-tab.

Use Textpattern’s built-in file upload tool (Content > Files) to upload the text file. It should be a CSV (comma-separated values) file, with a single subscriber on each line. Here is a sample text line:

Subscriber Name, Subscriber@example.com,Subscriber Lists, Custom 1,,,,,,,,,Custom10

My suggestion is to copy and paste the line of text above in red to a blank notepad file, to begin with.

If there is an issue with formatting and the subscribers don’t enter the database correctly,

Does this means that the importing process has changed?
I mean, does the method using pipes (|) no longer work?

I ask because few days ago I’ve read the old method somewhere in this new Postmaster manual, but I can’t find it anymore. So I suppose it changed to this new method.

Thanks.

I found it: it is here: http://www.benbruce.com/postmaster/BulkSubscriptionSubtab

That page of the manual is the one linked from the Import/Export tab on the Postmaster tab (inside TxP admin interface).

Maniqui,

You’re right, on both accounts. The plugin is still pointing to the old version of the page. I’ve fixed that in the next version. I hadn’t considered making either method work but I supposed that’s possible if it’s hard on folks. I just had many requests to make it a CSV format.

I’m using the latest plugin versions and 4.06, but I can only import one subscriber at a time, no matter how many are in my csv file. Apologies for the cheeky double post – I’m truly stumped.

I use this for a client and had the same issues until I made sure the CSV document was a new document created in a plain text editor (in my case TextMate). I then did the upload and imported all the subscriber names.
