Volume 7 / Issue 10

Hey everybody!
I had a great time at Three Trees Coffeehouse in Bellingham last weekend! Road trip! The Varners came out in force, as usual, but I had a bunch of friends there too and the place has a real community of regulars. The barista (a man so big it feels funny to describe him that way) said, "You're a blessing, man" and that was one of the nicest things anyone has ever said to me.
I told my first story that night -- I mean a real, honest-to-goodness storytelling. I recounted "Face in the Fire" and it felt good. Something a little different. I played the song chunk (as my friend Bob from Flowmotion calls them) I'm working on about that experience, and even though it wasn't complete it was still well-received.
I'm looking forward to the next few hectic weeks -- a show in Seattle, then I'll be performing a set at the Summer Meltdown in Darrington, WA (As a performer I get 10 $75 tickets, which is about half-price -- reply to this email if you want some) then I'm heading East for two weeks to see family, celebrate my parent's fortieth anniversary, hang out in NYC and go to a friend's wedding in Philly. Whew! Oh yeah, can't forget about Phish at the Gorge!
Hope you're enjoying the summer,
- Ben
